Characters

Good writiing comes down to knowing the characters.
Fleshing them out completely in our mind.
Caring about them.
Letting them have faults.
Breaking them out of the 'heroic' mold.
Letting them change in the course of the novel.

Don't know how I'll use this in JESSAMYN, but I'll keep it in mind.
