Yay for the contract. Do you know yet what the two books will be? I got an inkling, from her brief mention near the end of MLAS, that maybe you had something up your sleeve for Doyle & Maggie's eldest daughter.
The first book in the two-book contract will be Maggie's story.
I'm not sure about the second book in the contract. I think I'd like to write about a character who will be introduced in Maggie's story.
We will see what the editor says.
I WILL write Adrian's story. I was thinking maybe 1)Maggie, 2) this other woman's story, and then 3) Adrian's story.
Doyle's oldest kid might get her own story someday. It'd be interesting, doncha think, to have Doyle as your father.
I can say for sure, though, that she doesn't belong to Adrian.
Couple of reasons for this, but mainly -- Adrian would have been a mid-teen when she was a small child.
I can see Adrian having a particularly warm and loving relationship with with Doyle's kid. He'd be like an uncle. I don't see that ever changing and becoming lust when she grew up.
I've seen this kinda I-knew-her-as-a-child-and-now-I-have-the-hots-for-her! Oh noes!! in books once in a while. I always find it slightly disquieting.
Woohoo!! That's wonderful. Can't wait to read them. :D
ReplyDeleteoooh...shiny new blog! *pokes around*

ReplyDeleteNifty new look for the blog, too!
Congrats, Jo! Love the new look.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm delighted to have the Berkley contract.
ReplyDeleteAlso scared.
This is deadlines and promises and commitments and expectations. I think all this makes me a little crazy.
I'm just going to not think about this. Write, and not think.

ReplyDeleteBut my inklings are often wrong!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for liking the books.
I want to make Maggie's story really good.
Congratulations!!!! That's fantastic news for you - and for all of us who devour your books in one day.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle Moran --
ReplyDeleteI am so glad Berkley is enthusiastic about the next manuscripts.
I would write anyway; I couldn't help but write this next story. But the idea of getting paid for writing ... Oh wow.
