Back Again

Writing is this one-step-forward-two-steps-back business.

I was talking to a fellow writer the other day. She's spent six months working over and working over the same three or four chapters. Never getting beyond that. She sends it out to her crit group. I have the feeling she changes it for everyone who makes a comment. And she never makes any forward progress.

I'm NOT doing that. I'm really not. It's a reculer pour mieux sauter kinda thing.
38,865 words done in a good final draft. Thirteen chapters finished. Which is really fourteen chapters, but I tossed one out so now it's thirteen.

Now I will embark upon the uncharted waters of Chapter Fourteen, (formerly Fifteen.) I've decided to put it at Meeks Street.
I think.
