ReplyDeleteCandles can be mesmerizing and romantic, but, in speaking of their potential disadvantages, I had the singular misfortune, a few years back, of thinking to use some surplus candles in my study in the winter to add a bit of heat to the room, with the result that the carbon transferred by the smoky candles actually settled on the electronic innards of TWO successive CRT monitors that I was using in that room, killing them both!
ReplyDeleteI've a long acquaintanceship with computer troubleshooting, but that was the strangest type of computer accident I've ever experienced.
Now you see, that's why our colonial ancestors did not use oil lamps and candles to light their studies.
