A very happy plant |
It's one of those days when I don't know whether the rain is helping the farmers out or spoiling the standing hay, so I just send general good will to the plant kingdom and hope they are all as happy as my fuchsia.
Fuchsia is one of those words I never spell right the first time and I don't use it often enough to make a mnemonic for it. (I can spell "mnemonic" though, which is one of life's little ironies, isn't it?)
This is whatit'll look like tomorrow |
My writing friend showed up with thoroughly wet hair --
drowned-cat-level wet hair -- and I thought she'd parked the car in
Timbuktu, (... took me a while to spell that one,) and run into the
safety of the cafe.
She said, No, she'd gone running and taken a shower and that was why she was wet.
I associate with people who get up at dawn and go running in the rain. It is no wonder I feel taken aback in most encounters with real life.
In other news, I m hacking away at the WIP and while I do not have just
exactly an order of events, I am getting the character voices settled
down which is almost as good and maybe even better.
To the side is a picture of Andrea Pickens, Mary Jo Putney and me at RWA National where we talked about "Why History" and generally enlivened an early morning with our observations.
There is also a picture up top of one of the plants on the back porch of the cabin, picture taken in the bright sun of last month but now enjoying the driving rain.

Just finished Beauty like the Night and absolutely loved it. Please please please don't let this be the last in the series. I'd love to know more about Fletcher and his explosives, I think he's made an appearance in quite a few of your books and we know nothing about him, and what happened to Annique and Grey I know they went to Spain and thought we might get a hint of what they've been up to. Not that I'm obsessed with your books :-)

I think you mentioned in one of your blogs that they had gone to Spain, so I though we might get a hint where life took them. The characters in your books are all so rich and interesting, it's lovely hearing about them again. Hoping we'll hear more of them in the future.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to keep writing in this Spymaster's fictive universe, but I do want try something a little different. We'll see if that works out.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I'll do some novellas in the Spymaster's story. I have one coming out soon. It was published earlier in the e-anthology Gambled Away and just needs me to sit down and do the formatting and typos and put it up for sale.

I loved Beauty like the Night as well. I need to go back and reread it to relish the details properly. Visiting with old friends was lovely although I admit to being disappointed that apparently Adrian and Justine don't have children yet. (I can't remember who Sylvie is--is she one of Doyle's and Maggie's children? Do they have six?)
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us anything about the new WIP?
Leesee ... You're absolutely right. Sylvie is one of Doyle and Maggie's kids. I don't know much more about her than that. She's never been mentioned before.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how many kids Maggie and Doyle have. I mean, I know some of them but there may be more I haven't seen yet.
As to Justine and Adrian having kids ... Beauty Like the Night is set about half a year after their wedding. You gotta give even master spies a little time.
The new WIP will have paranormal elements. I'm playing around with it now.
Somehow I thought it was later than that. Ok.
ReplyDeleteAre any of Maggie and Doyle's kids biologically theirs? I'm guessing the twins have to be under British law of the time for one to inherit the title.
Doyle and Maggie's oldest son, the heir presumptive to the title, is Max -- currently at Cambridge.
ReplyDeleteDoyle's father is still alive. Doyle is heir apparent. Max is heir presumptive because Doyle's father the Earl could theoretically marry and produce another heir.
Max is younger than Sevie. The twins are younger still and Bart would step up to the title if something bad happened to Max, which it will not. Maggie didn't have any more kids after the twins.
I don't know much about Sylvie. Don't know how old she is or whether she is related to Doyle and Maggie by blood and birth or by adoption. I'm keeping that open in case she ever needs a story.
Anson and Anna, of course, were taken in as part of the family.
There might be more kids, by blood or adoption, who were not mentioned.
