Fresh Fiction and Romance Novel TV bragging

Me: But nobody will KNOW if I don't tell them.
Myself: It's bragging.
Me: If I ignore it, it's almost insulting. Like nobody told me. Like nobody noticed.
Myself: It's bragging. One does not flaunt oneself.
Me: It's an item of interest. It's informational.
Myself: It's bra--
I: Will you two stop it already and just SAY it.

Me (taking deep breath):

Fresh Fiction published
The Best Gift Books for 2008 according to Fresh Fiction Staff Members.

And the books are ...

Woman's Fiction -- Searching for Paradise in Parker, PA by Kris Radish

Paranormal Romance -- Nightkeepers by Jessica Andersen

Contemporary Romance -- Natural Born Charmer by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Chick Lit -- This is How It Happened by Jo Barrett

Historical Romance -- Spymaster's Lady by Joanna Bourne
(See. See. See. That's me!! Lookit!)

Erotic Romance -- Art of Desire by Cherie Feather

Romantic Suspense -- Take Me If You Can by Karen Kendall

Myself: You had to go and do it, didn't you?
Me: It's my blog. I get to put stuff like that on my own blog. I'm just saying it.
Myself: You are so bragging.
Me: I put in all seven names. All Seven. That makes it informational. And I'm in the middle so it's modest.
Myself: You put yourself in bold type. Why not just hire a flossing billboard?
I: Will you two just shut up? Jeesh. I can't take you anywhere.

Edited to reiterate:

I have been deeply honored by Michelle Buonfiglio at mylifetime here. She listed Spymaster's Lady as best book of the year.
I truly do not know what to say.

So I perform a modest and restrained ...
*Snoopy Dance*

Edited again to add:
The Wonderful people at Romance Novel TV here have nominated Spymaster's Lady among the Best of 2008. They've said such cool things.

And edited yet again:

RNTV didn't pick me for any titles. *pooh*
But I'm still pleased to have been nominated.

I got a nod from Romantic Times too.
*Yeah*

  3. Jo,
I'm glad you spoke up, although I already knew your books were gift worthy, and am even sending a copy to the Ukraine this year!

Oh, and BTW, you've been bookwormed here: http://thewritersroad.blogspot.com/

  4. Hi Jenny and Dee and Katibabs --

I found myself unable to resist the brag.
    I'm weak. Weak.

    Hi Jenny --

Thank you so much for sending the book to Ukraine. The international possibilities continue to astound me.

I was hoping to wriggle out of the wyrm (g)

    Leesee --
I'm reading 'Three Normandy Inns' by Anna Bowman Dodd, copyright 1892. This is traveller's tales, which are useful for understanding the setting. Anna and a woman companion brave the wilds of Northern France a century after my time. I'm hoping at least some stuff hasn't changed.

    From page 56 ...

"Some of the streets were permeated with noxious odors, with the poison of absinthe and the fumes of cheap brandy. Noisy, reeling groups came out of the tavern doors, to shout and sing, or to fight their way homeward. One such figure was filling a narrow alley, swaying from right to left, with a jeering crowd at his heels.

Est-il assez ridicule, lui?" with his cap over his nose and his knees knocking at everyone's door? Bah! ca pue!" the group of lads following him went on, shouting about the poor sot, as they pelted him with their rain of pebbles and paper bullets.

And I have no idea what a 'paper bullet' is, or was in 1890-ish

If we can't brag to our friends (and let's face it, if we're reading your blog, it's implied), etc.

Well-deserved and well-spotted by Fresh Fiction!

  8. Congratulations!! It was a great book and deserved the award. I don't think there's anything wrong with blogging about it, but your modesty is admirable as well as entertaining!

  10. Hi Deb --

It is wonderful of Romance TV to include me on their lists. I am so proud I would be busting my buttons if I actually wore any buttons.

In other news ... What I'm doing, every time somebody says they really really like Spymaster's Lady, I go through and order all the other books they liked.

There is a logic to this. If they like TSL, then I'm probably going to like most of what else they liked.

I'm lookin forward to these books coming in. I just love findin new authors.

  13. Hi Eve --

Y'know, from a philosophical standpoint, one is not supposed to get all excited about this kinda stuff because it's ... I dunnoh ... shallow or something.

    I get excited anyway.

  14. Hi Sherry --

That's the way I figure it.

Somebody's gol-dang-it enjoyed the book and I am just so tickled pink.

    I can't help but brag a little.
